Peter became a great man first because he confessed his sins to Jesus, he followed Jesus and then serve other people, love others just like Jesus did.

2: Andrew – The Apostle of Small Things
God does not see the smallness of a thing if it
is done out of trust in God. It seemed small to invite a brother to meet with Jesus, but that led to a brother who did great things for God.
