  • Bravery is saying no to the wrong things so that you can say yes to the right things; the admirable quality of being able to confront frightening things.
  • Disciple means a “follower of”; a personal follower of Jesus during His life.
  • Follower means someone who agrees with the beliefs of others, or listens to the lead or commands of another.

Introduction

Who is Thomas?

His nickname is Didymus (the twin). A commercial fisherman, he grew up around the Sea of Galilee. Jesus calls him, and he follows. He is also called “Doubting Thomas” because he doubted Jesus’ resurrection until he sees proof. But he does not doubt forever because he confess that Jesus is his Lord and God. Thomas is a brave and zealous man with an enquiring mind. If he didn’t understand something, he did not hesitate to ask for an explanation.

READ John 11:1-16- Jesus Decides To Go To Lazarus

Main Point of the Lesson

As said on the previous lesson, Jesus wants us to follow Him. He wants us to be part of saving the world. He wants us to share the good news with everyone. You don’t need super powers to join the Jesus League. You just need to be willing to see the light and answer the call from Jesus to follow Him and let Him lead your life.

Jesus uses unlikely heroes. Like Thomas, he was known as the doubting apostle. But when he heard that Jesus’ enemies are after Him and that Jesus might just die, He is willing to go with Jesus and die with Him if necessary. Brave and faith go hand in hand. In order to trust and have faith, we need to be brave. And in order to be brave, we need to trust God and have faith in Him, His presence, and His power.

Remind the kids that Jesus loves it when they (kids) believe in Him even though they’ve never seen Him.

Being brave starts with little things and it starts right where you are. When one of us shares the light of Jesus, that light is passed on from one person to the next.

Jesus is waiting to hear from you. Are you ready to join the Jesus League?

Activity

Ask the children one-by-one on what they are afraid of and how they can trust God to help them to be brave. After that, lead them in a prayer.
