Introduction
Who is Stephen?
Stephen was a Jew who had lived outside of Israel. He accepted Christianity and became one of the seven men chosen by the disciples to take care of the widows and the needy people in Jerusalem (Acts 6:1-5). Stephen is described as a man who was unusually full of faith and the Holy Spirit. He was also “full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people” (Acts 6:8). He used his popularity to reach a broader base of people with the message of salvation. He relied upon the Holy Spirit to give him the Words to say, the strength to persevere under persecution, and the heart to forgive those who were responsible for his death. Stephen became one of the first Christian martyrs.

Main Point of the Lesson
As said on the previous lesson, Jesus wants us to follow Him. He wants us to be part of saving the world. He wants us to share the good news with everyone. You don’t need super powers to join the Jesus League. You just need to be willing to see the light and answer the call from Jesus to follow Him and let Him lead your life.
Jesus uses unlikely heroes. Like from the previous lessons, Peter, John, Thomas and Philip were used by God not because of their talents but because of their willingness to follow Jesus no matter what happen. And now, in our lesson, we meet Stephen, who was brave, not afraid to speak the truth and willing to give up his life in order to please God.
Stephen’s example shows us that we should be bold and tell others about Jesus without fear. He trusted in God and did not fear what men would do to him. We should follow his example by being a witness for Christ and seeking to bring others into a relationship with Him.
Jesus is waiting to hear from you. Are you ready to join the Jesus League?
