Lesson 7 : Children of God
Bible Story : Let the Children Come to Me
Bible Scripture : Mark 10:13-16
Objective : Jesus wants children to come to Him and trust in Him.
Memory Verse : Psalm 139:1 “Lord, You know everything about me.”

Introduction

Talk about how children behave when there is a visitor in the house. They greet the visitor and then go away. They do not disturb the visitor. They are seen but not heard.

Tell the Story
Tell the bible story in your own words and by showing pictures.

Main Points of the Lesson
(Teacher should concentrate on one or two truths in this lesson so that children steadily come to know more about God)

  1. The disciples hindered the children and Jesus rebuked the disciples and invited the children. He called the children to Him. He blessed them.
  2. Children hold a very special place in Jesus’ heart. He wants to spend time with them and recognize that they can come to Him anytime. God wants us to trust Him—completely.
  3. God loves us no matter how big or little we are! God loves us no matter how young or old we are.
  4. Remind the kids that Jesus loves you and me! He loves us because He is love. God demonstrates His great love and care for them.

Our Response to the Story

LOOK
Jesus loved all the little children, and He loves you, too.

LISTEN
Every day, Jesus loves us and cares for us. One way Jesus shows His love is by giving us people to care for us.

LIVE
Jesus loved little children and that we too, should take special care of the children around us.

Game/Activity

“RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT”
Have the children stand on one side of the room, side by side, and you stand on the other. When you say, “green light,” they can walk toward you. When you say “red light,” they need to stop and freeze. At this age they will likely need to hear “red light” a few times before they actually stop. When they reach you, they can high-five you. Tell each child that they did a good job.

Prayer Time & Wrap-Up
Lead the children in a prayer.

Thank you God that you love us so much. Thank you that even though we might be very young and small, You still welcome us into Your family. May we always be willing to humble ourselves and make ourselves small to enter your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name – Amen!
